The village of Roujan
Roujan is a pretty and busy working village surrounded by vineyards where you can spend time sampling the wine.
It has a Cafe and a restaurant as well as a bar with shops supplying all your daily needs. There are two bakers, a wonderful butchers, local Spar, pharmacy, hairdressers, take-away, etc. all within less than a couple of minutes walk from our house.
The village is ideally placed for easy access to the Mediterranean coast - approximately 20 minutes to Meze where there are numerous fish restaurants serving delicious local specialities of sea food fresh from the sea and the historic port of Sete further along the coast which juts out into the sea and from where you can take a boat trip round the lagoon in glass bottomed boats to see the marine life in the Bassin de Thau and or visit the oyster beds which produce the speciality of the region as featured in Rick Steins French odyssey. Roujan is 10 minutes by car from the historic town of Pezenas with its famous bustling Saturday market and where you will also find many good restaurants as well as boutiques, set into the walls of the ancient buildings along the cobbled lanes selling hand crafted items such as leather and fashion goods, jewelry, locally made pottery, art and gifts of all sorts to take home.
