Out and About Roujan
Travel in any direction out of Roujan and you will soon see the wonderful sights of this historic and beautiful part of France.
Within 10 minutes travelling south will bring you into Pezenas with its historic old town. It has been an important market town for centuries and described as one of the singularly beautiful towns in the French Southwest. It is a well-known centre for arts and crafts and for a while was the home of the playwright Moliere. It still holds a huge open air market every saturday.

About 25 minutes south will bring you to the Mediterranean coast with its many beaches and small coastal towns around the Bassin de Thau. These include Meze, Agde, Marseillan and the busy port of Sete. The beautiful tree-lined Canal du Midi opens up into the Mediterranean here.

A few minutes north is a small lake popular for bathing, on the way to Claremont-l'Herault and the glorious hills and gorges and lakes of the national Park.

To the west is the historic town of Beziers while further south-west is the coastal town of Narbonne. A little further inland to the north-east is Carcassonne with its magnificent walled citadel straight out of a medieval fantasy.
To the east is the university city of Montpellier, the cosmopolitan centre of the Herault and a little further, the old Roman town of Nimes, both of which have international airports with cheap flights from the UK.
